Murray River Safari is a wildlife adventure set on Australia’s greatest river where you'll discover the diverse wildlife and birdlife of the dryland and aquatic landscapes Riverland Ramsar Wetland of International Importance where more than 180 endemic bird species have been recorded.
In just 3 days you’ll encounter koalas, kangaroos and emus and admire the spectacular forests of a broad river bound by majestic ochre-coloured cliffs.
Your adventure will include
- a guided canoe along tranquil backwaters encountering pelicans, darters, cormorants, and spoonbills
- a guided cliff walk spotting Wedge-tailed Eagles, honeyeaters, and migratory bee-eaters.
- a driving safari to the ephemeral lakes on in a high conservancy area where spectacular birdwatching can include Black swans and their cygnets, Pied Stilts, Red-necked Avocets, Yellow-billed Spoonbills, migratory waders and rarer Blue-billed ducks and Musk ducks.
Each night you can relax by a riverbank campfire under the sparkling starlit skies where your lodge style houseboat accommodation is moored. You’ll also be treated to superb local food and wine with a creative native twist.
